Almost ready. World Vision construction team is building Estilita a new house after hers was flattened during Typhoon Yolanda. Since then, she’s stayed in a tiny room made from salvaged materials pulled from her dilapidated house but it’s dark and it’s damp – especially on rainy days like today. World Vision’s construction crew is busy putting the final touches on Estilita’s new home – planning to finalize it by New Year’s Day. Estilita is excited. A new home means a new place to cook, a dry place to store her rice and a new spot to welcome her 20 grandchildren. «Being with my grandkids brings me joy,» she says.
